Overflow is a photo book by Takuma Nakahira, first presented as an installation in 1974.
The original installation featured 48 color photographs arranged on a 6-meter-wide by 1.6-meter-high wall, capturing urban fragments such as ivy-covered walls, manhole covers, and subway stations.
In 2018, Case Publishing released this work in book form, replicating the original layout to convey the experience of the installation. The photo book includes an essay by Franz K. Prichard, offering insights into Nakahira’s concept of an “illustrated dictionary”.
