Yoji Kuri is a well-known Japanese cartoonist, independent filmmaker, and pioneer of Japanese animation.
Opening the Kuri Experimental Manga Studio in 1958, he soon became an influential and leading figure in early Japanese animation.
He is known internationally for the very black comedy of his films, with the typically naïve style of his cartooning often belying the surreal, obscene and disturbing situations they depict.
In 1972, he published the Parasite series, consisting of 9 mangas in square format, in which he expressed existential despair with cynical humor and a fierce sense of the absurd.
In the Parasite manga series, 寄生虫No.5 Nudity + cartoon is the only one to use both photography and drawing in a clever collage game.
A somewhat naive character finds himself confronted with female nudity
A wonderful little book from an exceptional artist
