Nadia is a photo book by Hajime Sawatari, first published in 1973 by Camera Mainichi, followed by a 1977 reissue as the 5th volume of the Sonorama Shashin Sensho series.
This intimate body of work captures Sawatari’s journey through Europe with Nadia, his lover at the time, as they explored landscapes, cityscapes, and private moments together.
Through his lens, Sawatari transforms Nadia into a poetic muse, documenting their travels with a dreamy, almost cinematic quality. The series blends romance, nostalgia, and longing, offering a deeply personal vision of love.
The Sonorama edition condensed the original publication into a more accessible format while preserving the evocative storytelling and artistic vision of one of Japan’s most celebrated photographers.
