Hajime Sawatari fell in love with Italian model Nadia while working with her on a commercial in 1971.
Driven by the photographer’s desire to capture on film everything about the person he loved, Sawatari took the model with him to a long trip. Traveling to Karuizawa, Venice and other places, his focus on Nadia shifted between seeing her as a photographic subject and as a lover.
Nadia became known as a series that is still considered a seminal work of post-war Japanese photography.

This is Sawawatari’s first photo book.
