Jappu magazine was a niche art and fashion publication with 21 issues, launched by photographer Izima Kaoru.
Originally titled Jappu, it was renamed Zyappu from Issue 12 to reach a wider audience—though it remained a cult favorite, sold mainly in select Tokyo bookstores.
Known for its refined, artistic tone and ties to Izima’s New Beauty series, the magazine struggled with sales and ended in 1999, becoming a rare icon of 1990s Japanese subculture.
