Harajuku UFO is a collection of photographs by Japanese photographer Yuko Nakamura.
In 1974, Nakamura decided he wanted to spend a year taking photographs as a memory of a lifetime, and left the company he had worked at for 17 years.
Starting by taking pictures of white pigeons, he was told that his photos were terrible. But after taking advice, he persisted and shot even on rainy and windy days.
He then went to Harajuku, where he took all the photos in this book.
The Harajuku district of Tokyo was the epicenter of youth cult and street fashion. Teenagers dress freely, bursting with energy, following trends and creating new ones. Nakamura’s super brilliance was in photographing kids dressed up to pose naturally and without artifice.

A very scarce and one of the best ever published photo book
