Erika features Elika Marie Liljenquest, a Swedish model photographed by Taku Aramasa in 1976 on Kayangal Island, Palau. Far from a studio setting, the shoot unfolded in near isolation — no hotels, no electricity, sleeping on hard ground, bathing with rainwater. Cut off from the outside world for ten days, the experience shaped the images themselves, replacing Tokyo’s control and polish with raw light, salt air, and physical presence.
