A catalogue published on the occasion of the Camera Works Exhibition 1981, which presented the work of photographers from Japan and abroad, from 1981 September 1st, till September 6th.
The catalog originally included a series of 9 sheets of 4 pages each.
Starting with ‘Paul Strand / The Mexican Portfolio’, followed by ‘Tamie Ikeda / 12sheets of Sense’, ‘Shinzo Shimao / Firing State’, ‘Mitsuko Hirano / Human Space in Asakusa part-1’, ‘Material Exhibition Contemporary PhotographicExpression 1966″, “Hitoshi Tsukiji / Atonal Hand”, “Hitoshi Tsukiji / Notation”, “Yanagisawa Shin / Photography Exhibition”, “Walker Evans / FSA Photographs”.
However, Tamie Ikeda sheet is missing from our catalogue.
In November, the exhibition moved from Tokyo to Tsukuba and another catalog was issued. It consisted of three sections: “Naoya Hatakeyama / Contour Line”, “Shinzo Shimao / BoogieNight” and “Hitoshi Tsukiji / Atonal Hand”. Our catalogue set contains the entire series.
The following year, still at Tsukuba university, Hitoshi Tsukiji, Shinzo Shimao and Ryuichi Kaneko were also curators for the exhibition 15 contemporary photographic expressions. A 34 pages catalog with 32 illustrations was edited on that occasion.
