A long-awaited reprint of Shigeo Gocho’s 1981 self-published masterpiece Familiar Street Scenes (見慣れた街の中で).
Born with a physical disability, Gocho passed away at just 36, yet his work established him as one of Japan’s most sensitive photographers.
Known for his “sense of the umami of photography,” Gocho captured fleeting street moments with a quiet spirituality that reveals both the self and others.
This edition adds 27 previously unpublished images to the original color series — a tender portrait of everyday life and consciousness flowing through familiar streets.

A rare photo book and deeply moving testament
